Winston Churchill:

And do not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of the bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless, by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigor, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time"

Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.

All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.

It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time.

Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.

We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.
